HOT DISH BIO

Hot Dish is a progressive bluegrass/newgrass band based in Anchorage, Alaska. Hot Dish was formed in August, 2010. What started out as a few old college buddies sitting around and picking quickly became one of the hottest new bluegrass bands in Alaska.

Twin brothers and mortal enemies Matthew and Nicholas joined forces with Lucas Soden in Wisconsin while eating cheese and awaiting the Packers' return to prominence while attending UW-Oshkosh. They slowly followed each other to Alaska. Prior to Lucas's arrival, Matthew bragged of the band they would form when Lucas arrived to AK. Through roundabout ways Sam unfortunately fell into the cult like community of Wisconsin transplants to Alaska. Rumor had it that Sam played Dobro, so they coaxed him into joining the band with promises of unlimited baked casseroles and Miller High Life. Shortly after forming, Hot Dish was playing a show for National Outdoor Leadership School, when Dan asked to sit in for a few songs and promptly began to dominate the band with his stellar good looks and witty humor that are requirements of ripping up the banjo.

Since then they've gone from playing for Elks Lodge fundraisers to throwing Bluegrass Balls at the locally acclaimed Sitzmark in Girdwood Alaska - mecca for ski bums and slackers.
